Time flies

Time is a commodity which is freely given, which most people ignore, not until it comes to take itself back.

Have you heard the term, Time is gold? We heard it at least a million times already — yet it still holds true to date.

We all have different definitions of time. For me, time is a commodity which is freely given to us. Most people live their daily lives ignoring time itself, chasing their own dreams, doing what they love, doing what they don’t love, pursuing things they ought to have — until time knocks on the door and ask for change.

Time flies. As babies, we cry for milk, later we ask for toys, even later we talked about having nostalgic feelings of remembering our childhood memories, and then one day, we won’t be asking for anything at all. It isn’t depressing to think about time, is it? What is the point of life then if time depends on how long we will live? Let’s try to pause, and ask yourselves. What is the point of me doing things I do now, if later they will be bound to nothingness? Is this a trivial question that needs a valid answer? It definitely is! Think about 10, 20, 40, 50 years from now, and ask yourself, “does the things I do now matters after 50 years?” how about after 100 years? You see the point. Time is not something that stops when we want to.

Time is a luxury we cannot afford.

Please do not misread, I am not saying that what you are doing doesn’t matter at all. I am not even saying do not do anything at all, since what you’re working now will begone. I hope the point is clear. Time as they said, is a luxury we cannot afford, it’s funny and ironic because we have been given 24 hours a day 365 days a year, yet we can’t buy it more.

Time is an investment. I am not a financial adviser, but it is a common knowledge that investment is putting in what you have into something you expect profit in the future. Imagine you have a girl you like to pursue, will you not spend more time to that girl, in expecting you’ll have her in marriage? I hope you do, because that is a time well spent!

Challenge yourself:

  • Do you have anything you want to start doing, but you’re not sure if that will help you in the future? Set your priorities straight. You can procrastinate and make excuses and do nothing, or start making plans and move your feet one step at a time. Your first steps are the hardest, but staying on your comfort zone is more dangerous than stepping on unknown terrains.
